Alive & Well Community Partners (AWCP) provides the free confidential HIV testing with bioLytical which is a rapid test that uses a small amount of blood by pricking the finger with a lancet and results given in 1 minute.

If the test results are Reactive or preliminary positive, then a confirmatory test is done through a blood draw. The blood sample is sent to a laboratory for the screening of the HIV antibodies and results can take 3-5 days.

Testing for HIV is the only way to know for sure if you have the virus that causes AIDS. Many people do not have any symptoms and can live for many years without knowing they have the virus. Testing at Alive & Well Community Partners is quick, easy, painless, confidential and FREE.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR HIV TESTING SESSION

(2) Get tested.

(3)  Speak with doctor.

INTERPRETATION OF TEST RESULTS:

NON-REACTIVE
This result means that antibodies were not detected in the blood at the time of testing. However, this does not completely rule out the possibility of infection with HIV if you may have come in contact with blood, semen, vaginal fluids, or breast milk of an infected person within the last 3 months.

REACTIVE

This result means that HIV antibodies have been detected in the specimen. However, a result cannot be confirmed POSITIVE until a blood draw or a Ora Sure mouth swap confirmatory test has been administered by a Alive & Well Community Partners’ staff and analyzed through a laboratory.
